When President Obama argued against the UN recognition of a Palestinian state, October 2011, without direct Israeli and Palestinian negotiations, he disappointed Muslims throughout the Middle East. Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is a hardliner who challenged President Obama's attempts to halt settlement building. There are at present no peace talks. The world cannot ignore the plight of the Palestinians.
The West is Weakened
The West assumed a global role which was weakened by the invasion of Iraq and the 2008 banking crisis and is divided between civilising and dominating the world. Ordinary Arabs, deprived of freedom and dignity, their countries ruled by despots, have succumbed to despair, with the Middle East in turmoil.
